IMC honors nine international music programs.

IMC honors nine international music programs. The International Music Council (IMC), a global network of expertorganizations and individuals working in the field of music, honorednine music programs with its inaugural Musical Rights Awards at the 3rdIMC World Forum on Music in Tunis, Tunisia, October 17-22, 2009. Freemuse of Denmark received the Music Rights Award for overallwinner. Centro Andino para la Educacion y la Cultura (CAPEC) ofArgentina; and Dr. Ahmed Sarmast and the Ministry of Education, IslamicRepublic of Afghanistan of Afghanistan, were also honored with MusicalRights Awards. The NAMM Foundation's SupportMusic.com/SupportMusic Coalitionwas one of six projects that received a special commendation from IMC.MTNA Executive Director & CEO Gary Ingle, who is also an IMC boardmember, was on hand at the IMC World Forum in Tunisia to accept thehonor on behalf on NAMM. The other five organizations honored were Buskers for Bochabela ofBelgium/South Africa; International Association of Music Libraries,Archives and Documentation Centres of Norway/Vietnam; HungarianMusicians' and Dancers' Union of Hungary; the Special MusicCentre Resonaari of Finland; and Spiritus Mundi of Sweden.
