In memoriam.

In memoriam. On January 30, ACTE lost one of our life members when MajoreLovering passed away at the age of 90. Lovering was the state supervisorof home economics for North Dakota from 1949 until her retirement in1976. She served as president of the North Dakota Home EconomicsAssociation (NDHEA) from 1957-1959. Lovering also served as stateadvisor for Future Homemakers of America (FHA, now FCCLA) and was amember of the FHA National Advisory Board. Among her many honors werethe 1975 Outstanding North Dakota Home Economist of the Year, the 1975N.D. Vocational Association Service Award and the 1976 National FHADistinguished Service Award. Also in 1976, Lovering received an awardfor Contribution to the Home Economics AVA Graduate Fellowship, N.D. In 1991, the NDHEA established a scholarship in her name foruniversity home economics students. In lieu of flowers, the familyrequests that memorials be sent to the Majore Lovering Home EconomicsEndowment Scholarship Fund, North Dakota State University North Dakota State University,at Fargo; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered and opened 1890 as North Dakota Agricultural College, achieved university status in 1960. . Arthur A. Binnie On February 4, ACTE life member Arthur A. Binnie passed away at theage of 71. He had served as state director of the Commission forVocational Education for the state of Washington and as department headand dean of Green River Community College Green River Community College (GRCC) is a community college located in Auburn, Washington, USA. It has a student body of around 10,000. The student to faculty ratio is 23:1. in Washington. He had alsobeen vice chancellor of Coast Community College District in California,president of Gateway Technical Institute in Wisconsin, president ofChemeketa Community College Chemeketa Community College is a community college located in Salem, Oregon, with smaller campuses in McMinnville, Dallas, Stayton, and Woodburn. Chemeketa serves more than 50,000 students each year in a district that covers 2,600 square miles in Marion, Polk, most of Yamhill, and in Oregon, and assistant/deputysuperintendent of Salem-Keizer Public Schools in Salem, Oregon, andSeattle Public Schools Seattle Public Schools refers to the school district of Seattle, Washington, USA. It is the largest public school district in Washington, and the 44th largest in the United States, with 47,449 students in 2002. . He also served as interim president of NorthSeattle Community College North Seattle Community College (NSCC) is a two-year public college. It is one of the four colleges comprising the Seattle Community College District, and one of the 32 member colleges of the Washington Community and Technical Colleges system. and interim superintendent for the Carbonado carbonado:see diamond. School District. Binnie is survived by his wife, Diane, nine children, 24grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
