MTNA Studio Festival program: one teacher's "soaring" endeavor.
MTNA Studio Festival program: one teacher's "soaring" endeavor. For most music teachers, the primary focus and goal is, and alwaysshould be, their student's ultimate musical success and love ofmusic making. MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National AssociationMTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee)offers several tools to aid music teachers with attainingtheir own professional goals, as well as their students' goals. TheMTNA Studio Festival Program is specifically geared in showcasing the"everyday" student's talents. That's why, like somany others, independent music teacher and MTNA member Aurelia Campbell,NCTM NCTM National Council of Teachers of MathematicsNCTM Nationally Certified Teacher of MusicNCTM North Carolina Transportation MuseumNCTM National Capital Trolley MuseumNCTM Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage , of Hartwell, Georgia Hartwell is a city in Hart County, Georgia, United States. The population was 4,188 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Hart CountyGR6. GeographyHartwell is located at (34.352738, -82. , hosted a Studio Festival Program. Campbell and other music teachers benefit from hosting a Festivalin six ways: 1. It allows teachers and students to participate in a nationallysponsored program that is open to students of all ages and levels ofadvancement. 2. It is a performance opportunity that is simple, convenient andat little or no cost to the teacher and at reasonable cost to thestudent, without the travel or scheduling complications typicallyassociated with a larger festival, since the event can be held in theteacher's own studio. The Studio Festival Program is an ideal eventfor any studio because there are no set rules and it can be tailored tomeet each teacher's individual needs. 3. It serves as an incentive for practice and selection ofappropriately challenging repertoire. 4. It provides an opportunity for students to receive supportivecritique from an experienced musician (judge)--of the teacher's ownchoosing--and an official certificate recognizing their participation.Optional Festival medals with the official MTNA Studio Festival logo,"the soaring star," can be purchased for the students as well. 5. It provides national recognition to students, teachers andjudges for participation in a non-competitive event and inspiresstudents in their musical accomplishments. 6. It provides a performance and evaluation opportunity forstudents in geographical areas where that opportunity isn't readilyavailable, and allows non-piano teachers and students, who have fewerperformance opportunities than piano teachers and students, to showcasetheir talents. To get her Studio Festival going, Campbell referred to her StudioFestival Program Starter Kit. As an MTNA member, Campbell has access tothe free kit, which offers guidelines guidelines,n.pl a set of standards, criteria, or specifications to be used or followed in the performance of certain tasks. for "setting up" aFestival.
