MTNA member named university president.
MTNA member named university president. Robert Koopmann, an MTNA member and 1968 graduate of SaintJohn's University in Minnesota, has been named the 12th presidentof the school by the university's board of regents. He began hisofficial duties July 1. Koopmann has been a professor of music at the College of SaintBenedict and Saint John's University since 1975, and served as finearts division head from 2006-2009. For the past four years, he hasserved on the Saint John's board of regents, and served nine yearsin a previous term on the board. A native of Waterloo, Iowa, Koopmann professed as a monk of SaintJohn's Abbey on September 21, 1971 and was ordained a priest onJune 6, 1981. He has advanced degrees from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee, the University of Iowa and a master of divinity degree fromSaint John's School of Theology/Seminary.
