MIC competition winners announced. The Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) has announced the winners ofthe 2009 Generation Next Young Composer's Competition. Winners of the 2009 Generation Next Young Composer'sCompetition are Andrew Hsu, 14, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, firstprize; Jeremiah Klarman, 16, of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, secondprize; Martynas Matutis, 16, of Lisle, Illinois, third prize; and ThomasReeves, 15, of New York, New York, honorable mention. Established in 2007 by Music Institute of Chicago faculty member,pianist and contemporary music advocate Abraham Stokman, the GenerationNext Young Composer's Competition was created to encourage andrecognize the talent of today's promising young composers andpromote both continued interest in and the development of new music.
