Joan Reist receives MTNA Distinguished Service Award. Joan Reist, NCTM NCTM National Council of Teachers of MathematicsNCTM Nationally Certified Teacher of MusicNCTM North Carolina Transportation MuseumNCTM National Capital Trolley MuseumNCTM Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage , was awarded the third annual MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National AssociationMTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee)DistinguishedService Award at the 2007 CFMTA-MTNA-RCM Collaborative Conference inToronto. Reist spent 33 years as an independent music teacher and 28 yearsas director of the keyboard skills and piano pedagogy programs at theUniversity of Nebraska at Lincoln, from which she also holdsbachelor's and master's of music degrees. Through the years,Reist served MTNA in a variety of offices, most notably president from1999-2001. Other positions Reist has held at the national level includechair of the MTNA Junior High competitions, MTNA vice president forprofessional activities, MTNA vice president for membership, MTNAsecretary, MTNA president-elect and special assistant for MTNAFOUNDATION Development. She also served as president of the NebraskaMTA (1) (Message Transfer Agent or Mail Transfer Agent) The store and forward part of a messaging system. It boasts over 75,000 members in 128 collegiate chapters and 74 alumni chapters in the US and abroad. . She is alsoa member of the Arts Education Committee of Nebraskans for the Arts andis on the board of Lincoln's ensemble The word ensemble can refer to a musical ensemble (This, along with 'ensemble cast' are the most commonly used ways to describe an ensemble though obviously not the only ways) , The Third Chair Chamber.
